Many, many more photos are presented in the News section, which you can reach at right or by clicking here.  Two of our newest photo sets are from the 19 May 2012 student performance and potluck and from the visit by 12 of our older students to the Newman power plant of El Paso Electric on 22 May 12.

Grand opening day

Our school greeted potential students, their parents, and interested members of the community with a grand opening on May 30th, 2009, two-and-a-half months before classes began.  Contractors had recently finished renovations on our rented space on the Downtown Mall.  The renovations put the facility into full compliance with modern building codes for schools and altered some interior spaces to make them more usable.  A photo gallery is linked here.

Full-day previews

On July 18th and 19th, 2009, a month before we began official classes, we held two full days of classes with our regular teachers.  These days, captured here in photos, served as previews for potential students and their parents.  They were successful in gathering our first class of 12 students, who began classes on August 18th.

Some recent activities

A few photos capture some of our diverse activities, which are described briefly in captions.  More photos will be added as we progress.

Yet more activities

Students, teachers, and guests enliven the Las Cruces Academy with performances, celebrations, science, and cultural bridges.  Here are images from 2009 to 2011, of: students singing in Chinese and dancing; students presenting one of their skits; LCA celebrations, from the grand opening in 2009 to an evening fundraiser to a picnic in the park; science sessions from jury-rigged apparatuses to catch a balloon in the act of popping to measuring food dyes, to fire-breathing and flash paper, to a beloved physics lecturer and donor; and the display of art and artifacts from some of the extensive travels of the Academy founders, at an art auction benefit for the school.
