Kindergarten:

On Friday students learned the basic greetings. They learned how to say “hello (你好)” and “goodbye (再见)”. Next week they will learn to tell what his/her name is and how to count numbers from 1-10.

 

Yellow Group:

On Thursday students went through the class rules. They reviewed the basic greetings and telling what his/her name is. On Friday they reviewed the numbers from 1 to10. Students also practiced recognizing the characters for numbers. Next week the students will review/learn the vocabulary for family members and practice how to write the characters for numbers.

 

Green Group:

On Thursday students went through the class rules. They reviewed the basic greetings and telling what his/her name is. On Friday they reviewed the numbers from 1 to 10, plus the names for family members, food, and fruits. They also practiced recognizing the characters for these words. Next week students will review the vocabulary for colors and desserts. They will practice writing the characters for numbers as well.

 

Blue Group:

On Thursday students went through the class rules. They were given a basic introduction to China. Students also learned the basic greetings. On Friday the students learned the words for counting numbers from 1 to 10. Next week they will practice recognizing the characters for numbers and learn how to tell what their names are.

 

Purple Group:

This week students reviewed the basic greetings, asking and answering what his/her name is, the vocabulary used for family members, as well as how many people are in their families. They practiced recognizing the vocabulary related to these topics and reviewed those sentence structures. Next week they will review the sentences about their class and the meals eaten during the day.

Red Group:

This week students reviewed the vocabulary used for activities. They had a test over these vocabularies. Next week they will practice talking about what they did, as well as the timeline related to the activities they were involved in during the summer break.

 

Golden Group:

This week Samantha reviewed the vocabulary for activities and compass directions. She practiced giving the directions and locations to a place on the map. She was given reading comprehension homework. Next week, we will review the vocabulary for countries and cities, as well as extended family members. We will practice how to tell where our family members live, how often we meet, as well as the places we like to visit.

22 August

Kindergarten:

This week students learned how to tell what his/her name is and how to count the numbers from 1-10. They learned characters for “you ()”, “I, me ()”, and “name ()”.

Yellow Group:

This week students reviewed how to tell what his/her name is. They practiced recognizing the characters for “you ()”, “I, me ()”, and “name ()”, as well recognizing the characters for numbers and how to write the characters for the numbers.

 

Green Group:

This week students reviewed/learned the names for colors. They practiced recognizing the characters for colors.

 

Blue Group:

This week students learned how to tell what his/her name is. They practiced recognizing the characters for numbers and practiced writing the characters of numbers.

 

Purple Group:

This week students reviewed the vocabulary and sentences about their class and the meals eaten during the day.

 

Red Group:

This week students practiced how to tell what they did and where they went during the summer break. They also reviewed/learned the related vocabulary.

 

Golden Group:

This week Samantha reviewed/learned the vocabulary for extended family members, as well as the names for countries and cities. We practiced how to tell where our family members are and how often we meet them.

Kindergarten:

This week students were continuing to learn the counting numbers from 1-10. They also reviewed the characters they learned last time. In addition, students practiced recognizing the characters for numbers 1-5.

Yellow Group:

This week students learned the related vocabulary in the sentences of asking and answering what his/her name is. They practiced putting the vocabulary words in a sentence in the right order. They also learned the names used for family members and practiced recognizing the characters used for the names of family members.

 

Green Group:

This week students learned the names for family members, as well as how to ask and answer how many people are in their family. They practiced recognizing the vocabulary related to family members and using those vocabulary words in sentences.

Blue Group:

This week students learned the names for family members and practiced recognizing the characters. They also practiced writing the characters used for numbers.

 

Purple Group:

This week students reviewed the vocabulary for body parts, daily activities, and some preposition words; they practiced using those words in sentences.

Red Group:

This week students were tested on the vocabulary they were learning. They practiced the sentence pattern “(first)… (then)…” to express doing activities sequentially. They also learned the sentence structure to express doing an activity in certain place and certain time period.

 

Golden Group:

This week Samantha was given vocabulary for zoo animals and some more adjectives for describing a person/animal’s height, weight, etc. We went through the reading comprehension questions for last week. She was also given new reading comprehension materials for next week.

Kindergarten:

This week students learned counting numbers from 1-10. They reviewed the characters for numbers 1-5. They practiced recognizing the characters for numbers 6-10. Students are also learning how to write the characters for these numbers.

 

Yellow Group:

This week the students reviewed the names for family members and practiced recognizing the characters for the names of family members. They also began to learn/review the names for colors.

 

Green Group:

This week the students learned the sentences used for asking and answering how many people are in one’s family, as well as who the family members are. They are also learning Chinese pinyin, which is Romanized system for Mandarin Chinese pronunciation.

 

Blue Group:

This week the students began to learn the names for colors. They practiced recognizing the characters for these names. They will do more practice next week.

 

Purple Group:

This week students reviewed some preposition words and the names of some objects. They practiced expressing where one object is relevant to another object.

 

Red Group:

This week students reviewed all the preposition words they have learned so far, such as (on the left), (on the right), (in the middle), (nearby) and (next to). They began to learn the vocabulary for compass directions. They practiced how to say where one place is on the map and where one place is relevant to another place.

 

Golden Group:

This week Samantha reviewed some names of animals as well as adjectives for describing a person/animal’s height, weight, look, etc. We also went through the reading comprehension questions from last week.

Kindergarten:

This week students continued to practice recognizing the characters for numbers 1-10. They are also learning some words to address their family members, such as (dad), (mom), (older brother), etc.

 

Yellow Group:

This week students practiced recognizing the characters for names of colors. Students who mastered recognizing these characters began to practice writing characters for addressing their family members.

 

Green Group:

This week students continued learning Chinese pinyin (a Romanized system for Mandarin Chinese pronunciation). They also learned the vocabulary for asking and answering questions about how many students are in their classes, as well as how many are girl/boy students. They practiced saying sentences using those words.

 

Blue Group:

This week students continued to practice recognizing the characters used for colors. The whole class did a great job. They also practiced writing the characters for addressing their family members.

Purple Group:

This week students reviewed words used to name the methods of transportation, the names of places in our neighborhood, and sentences used for asking and answering what methods of transportation one takes to get to a place.

 

Red Group:

This week students learned/reviewed the names for school subjects and sports facilities. They learned the sentence structures used for giving two or more choices with , expressing cause and effect with “(because)… (so)….

 

Golden Group:

This week Samantha was given vocabulary for expressing promises, changes of one’s look, and an activity that one has been or hasn’t been doing. We also went through the reading comprehension questions from last week.

This week students continued to learn how to address their family members. Students learned how to say (grandma) and (grandpa) in Chinese. They also learned/practiced writing the characters for numbers 5-10.

This Tuesday was the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. Students learned some traditions and listened to a Chinese mythology related to this holiday. They tasted moon cake, which is a must-have dessert for this holiday. Students also learned the names of other desserts.

 

Green Group:

This Tuesday was the Mid-Autumn Festival in China. Students learned some traditions and listened to a Chinese mythology related to this holiday. They tasted moon cake, which is a must-have dessert for this holiday. Students also learned the vocabulary and sentences for asking and answering what food/drinks they will have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

This week students learned and practiced the sentences for asking and answering what foods and drinks they had for breakfast, lunch, & dinner. They were tested for the related characters. Students were also introduced to the vocabulary used for seasons and the words for describing cold and hot, as well as the adverb (very).

Blue Group:

Students learned the names for fruits this week. They learned 9 of them and practiced recognizing the characters for these names. Some students also practiced writing the characters used for family members.

 

Purple Group:

This week students learned and practiced using the sentences to ask and answer if someone is at a certain place, as well as using basic phone conversation etiquette. They practiced using the 6 elements they have learned so far: what (), where (), who (), how () , how many (), and question particle ().

 

Red Group:

This week students learned/practiced how to the sentences to say where a place is on a map or in a town. They practiced the sentence structure of “(because)…(so)…to express cause and effect. They also learned the differences of (or) and (or). Students watched videos about asking for and giving directions.

 

Golden Group:

This week we reviewed the verbs and adjectives we encountered in the reading materials. Samantha also practiced retelling a story.

Students reviewed the 6 names of colors they have learned so far. They practiced recognizing the characters for names of colors of blue (), green (), and yellow ().

 

Yellow Group:

Students learned the names for some food and drinks this week. They practiced recognizing the characters for those names.

 

Green Group:

Students practiced how to say a sentence of, “Do you like…?” with the question particle “吗”, and answer questions with the vocabulary they have been learning. Students also learned how to say the month, day of the week, and day of the month. They also practiced how to say a person’s birthday, as well as the day for today, tomorrow, and yesterday.

 

Blue Group:

Students learned the names for some food and drinks this week. They practiced recognizing the characters for those names. Most of students are good at memorizing how to write the characters used for family members.

 

Purple Group:

This week students practiced using phone conversation etiquette when saying sentences. They practiced how to answer the questions to the 6 elements (what, where, who, how, how many, question particle) they have learned.

 

Red Group:

Students reviewed the vocabulary for some adjectives. They played a game by saying pairs of antonyms in adjectives. They also reviewed the names of their extended family, names of countries, as well as the vocabulary to describe the change in address and to talk about a routine.

 

Golden Group:

This week we reviewed the adjectives. We played a game by saying pairs of antonyms in adjectives. We also went through the reading materials and practiced how to retell a story.

This week students did end-of-term review by introducing themselves.

Students practiced memorizing the vocabulary used for extended family, names of some countries and cities. They also learned to how to describe where they lived originally, before that, and currently.

 

Golden Group:

On Tuesday we reviewed some adjectives. We played a game by saying pairs of antonyms using adjectives. Also, Samantha practiced retelling a story.
