Earth Day on the Plaza de Las Cruces

21 April 2018.  Lou Ellen and Vince were on the plaza in their booth from 9 to 1.  They enjoyed talking with people about science, the environment, and, of course, our school as a potential good fit for new students this coming academic year.  Vince was out again with his FLIR One thermal infrared camera, explaining the scientific basis of thermal imaging and its use in monitoring the state of the Earth from satellites. Note how cold the sky appears, since it has very little water vapor that can emit thermal infrared radiation…and also that our heads are typically the warmest parts of our bodies.
