Wednesday, 30 May 2018: Food for Thought, our 5th run of this community event and school fundraiser.
We thank our food donors (La Posta, the Santa Fe Grill, Luna Rossa, and Marv and Marni King), our silent auction donors, our 50 generous guests, our numerous volunteers aged 8 to 71, and our publicity donors (the Las Cruces Bulletin and many people who posted online and in business locations).
We were fortunate to have 10 interesting people from the community, each taking a table for dinner and leading a wide-ranging discussion with guests choosing his or her table. The topics ranged from art to economics to historic buildings to travel to education and more. Guests, and discussion leaders, shared fine food from Santa Fe Grill, La Posta, Luna Rossa, and Simply Devine, along with wine, coffee, tea, and sangria. They also took the opportunity to buy 30 different items in a silent auction, donated by businesses, friends of the school, and LCA families and staff.
The evening gave us a much appreciated $3500 in funds, and, more so, an even deeper connection to the Las Cruces / Mesilla community. It was a most enjoyable time for all.
