Saturday, April 8th. We were invited to be part of the International Festival held in Pioneer Woman’s Park, 10 AM to 3 PM. What a beautiful, sunny day it was. We mingled with students, teachers, and others from diverse nations…and our students in grades 2-8 performed stunningly, dancing and singing in Mandarin Chinese. They vocalized boldly, having mastered the words and, importantly, the 4 tones that are critical in Mandarin. The crowd favorite is, as ever, the Little Apple song, a Chinese pop song that swept the world in 2014 and 2015. We are so grateful to our award-winning Chinese teacher, Mei Dai. We also had a table with information about our school and biological specimens to view under the microscope; School Head Dr. Lou Ellen Kay brought out interesting facts about the intimate structures of knee bones, among other things. LCA parents helped out; in one image you see NMSU Prof Charlotte Gard. Look for a video of the lively Little Apple song on YouTube, at https://youtu.be/B4i25PhriNo.
